Fasting Day 05 – Satisfaction.
"When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied."
Psalms 17:15
Waking up to a day that God has set up for me is the first thing that makes me happy every morning when I get up. Getting to spend time with Him is something I will never get over.
Today has that ‘almost weekend’ vibe and it makes me want to be outside. This harmattan is the perfect ‘going out’ weather. If I was a fan of makeup, I would have decided to beat my face this morning, just as a statement of defiance to the constant Lagos heat. Humph.
Something happens around 2pm in the afternoon, I start to feel uncomfortable and restless so I take off my glasses and just stare into space. I feel fatigued and a frown starts to form; I can feel a headache coming as well.
My little brother starts to ask for my help to prepare lunch, he had a bit of a sick incident in the morning and suddenly feels the world owes him help. I tell him he cannot be serious for wanting to throw me right in front of temptation but I get up and join him in the kitchen. He’s making yam & eggs sauce – complete husband material this boy ๐ . A phone call with a friend and my satisfied brother later, I feel so much better.
It teaches me something. Most of the time when we feel something is wrong or we don’t feel good, we tend to stay there; in that mood and in that problem when just getting up can change that situation or negative feelings. It could be stress, it could just be that you need a break but just get up. It gets better when you get back.
Today’s prayers focus on the need for dilligence and competence to carry out God’s will. For example, David was only called to the palace to play the harp for King Saul because he played the harp ‘WELL.’
Thanksgiving was another focus. Citing John 6 where Jesus feeds the 5,000 by simply giving thanks, it lays the foundation for the fact that ‘Thanksgiving is a strategy for multiplication.’ So we should not wait for a miracle before we thank Him, we should thank Him being expectant for a miracle.
- Phillipians 4:6-7 also highlights how we should bring our requests to God with THANKSGIVING, making it crucial in our posture when we seek God.
- God’s will is for us to give thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
- Paul and Silas praised and sang, making their shackles to fall off (Acts 16)
More than trying to solve your problems, God is more interested in you. While the problem may not experience an instant fix, Phillipians 4:7 lets us know that God’s peace that surpasses all understanding will keep our hearts and minds. Away from worry.
This makes sense because once we have peace, we can easily and clearly see God working to make things right, we can fully trust in His ability to take care of us, we can not fret.

A word came from God through the ministering pastor and I’m putting it here because I know that it will speak to somebody; either you or someone by your side.
It goes like this:
‘Do not hoard the jar of oil God has given you. He will multiply it.’
Pastor T.
Today is the last day for this week, until Monday when fasting resumes. I cannot deny that this has been an awesome experience for me, getting directions, instructions and clarity; strengthening my spirit and teaching me to trust God more. Today I am satisfied because God’s voice always tops even the loudest voice in my head. Confirmation after confirmation, I am learning to hear the voice of my lover better.
I encourage you to bring your expectations before God and if you don’t have that, just come as you are. This God that we serve? He’s too good to not believe.
I am beginning to practice the self-control that I need so I do not over-compensate for all the breakfasts and lunches I have missed this week because all I want to do is eat ๐๐๐. May God help me and you too.
You can watch a rebroadcast of the prayer session here and I will see you next week!
I love you my friend, but God loves you more.
